We Nominate Dr. Paulo de Assis
ELIA is pleased to announce its nomination of Dr. Paulo de Assis as candidate for the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors (GCSA)
to the European Commission.
Paulo de Assis
is currently Senior Research Fellow and Head of Research Department at Orpheus Institute
, an ELIA member. He developed a growing international profile as a researcher who combines musical practice (as a pianist of the classical repertoire, experimental performer, and composer), musicological expertise on 20th century Western art music, publishing experience (as author, editor, and translator), and wide-ranging transdisciplinary interests in contemporary philosophy, psychoanalytical theory, and epistemology. For the past 10 years, Paulo’s work has been devoted to artistic research. He was the PI of an European Research Council grant (2013-2018), is the founder and Chair of the international conference series, Deleuze and Artistic Research (DARE), and is the editor of the book series, Artistic Research at Rowman & Littlefield International (London/New York).
ELIA believes Paulo de Assis would be an extremely valuable addition to the GCSA, as highly respected expert in the field of Artistic Research and beyond. He has a unique and panoramic view of science and research stemming from years of experience not only in academia and the arts, but as an advisory board decision-maker. His election would significantly widen the expertise of the GCSA, paving the way for an open-minded, inclusive future. Paulo de Assis’s nomination, initiated by ELIA, was submitted jointly with other networks in higher arts education and artistic research, including AEC, CILECT, Cumulus, GEECT, EAAE, and SAR.
