UPDATED: A Message From ELIA President – Horizon Europe
We previously shared our excitement regarding the proposal for the "Global Challenges“ within the Horizon Europe Programme
- the funding framework for research and innovation - which contains one global challenge that reads: "Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society".
The negotiators for European Parliament and the EU Council struck a deal on this proposal on 20 March 2019, improving chances that the European Commission will be able implement it on time in 2021. This is the first time that Culture and Creativity play a part on this level in the financial framework for research. Officially called a 'cluster', the new culture and creative section will be dedicated to boosting research and development in Europe's cultural industry.
If all continues as agreed upon, then art universities for the first time will be recognized in key players and stakeholders to adress the "Global Challenges“ that European Research should address. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
