During the school’s growth, the intimate atmosphere has been successfully preserved, while a student-focused style of education has been developed and art and design have been defined as major areas of research. The Academy combines art and design, theory and practice, thinking and acting, research and education.Currently the AFA has 600 students and 100 teachers.

Typography is a field of visual communication design aimed at facilitating the reading process. The objective of the course is to provide future designers with the necessary knowledge and skills to set their communication objectives and to develop appropriate means of achieving them. In this process, a broad interdisciplinary approach to typography is essential. We place great emphasis on the design process, social responsibility of the designer, ethical attitude and the use of research results for the purpose of diagnosing actual needs, defining user specifics and user contexts, and prototyping solutions.

Learning content includes:
  • System design (typography understood as a system of information processing and transmission as well as knowledge creation)
  • Building appropriate design solutions based on relationships between: the project's communication goal, the specifics of the recipient, the functional context, the medium, the communication channel
  • Prototyping and testing
  • Documenting the course of the design process and creating documentation of the project concept
  • A holistic approach to the project problem
  • Effective use of typographic means
The course content and learning outcomes will be agreed with AFA to ensure they comply with the curriculum. On completing the one-semester course the students should obtain grades and ECTS credits.

The visiting professor will have access to the G-Suite online tools, including Google Classroom and Google Meet, and will be supported by a member of the AFA academic staff.

The successful candidate will be a designer/academic/lecturer specialised in the broadly-defined area of designing reading experience. The offer is not limited to designers; representatives of various disciplines may apply.
