Request for comments on new Map-D course
The Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) is preparing a new MA course in Performance Design. The course team invites comments from colleagues in other countries on the uniqueness of the programme: Do you recognize aspects in the MAP-D course, and/or find a significant difference in orientation compared to existing courses in your country?
The Master of Arts in Performance Design (MAP-D) is a new 1.5 year fulltime programme for creative professionals who have a passion for performance, and who are eager to know more about the innovative field of performance design.
is defined here as those interdisciplinary performance practices that strategically involve audiences/users, the environment, and partners outside the arts domain during the creative process. This practice is strongly engaged with the use of new technologies and the related dramaturgies.
In MAP-D, you produce and study performative experiences and events. You intensively work together in interdisciplinary teams with colleagues from different arts disciplines such as theatre, acting, scenography, game design, dance, and writing. You experiment with roles and tasks of and relationships between the audience, the environment, external partners, and yourself as makers. This experiment will lead you to new forms and expressions.
