Open Call: Three Courses in Architecture at Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm

03 April 2019

In the fall of 2019 the Royal Institute of Art is launching three new courses in Architecture, which will explore the intersection of art and architecture:

Negotiating Artistic Values – Art and Architecture in the Public Sphere
The course will include about 15 participants and be lead by artist Jonas Dahlberg, recently the subject of debate due to his winning proposal for the July-22 attack memorial in Norway. The course is aimed at actively practicing architects and artists.

The Art of Restoration: Structures of Democracy
This year's theme focuses on buildings such as civic centers, libraries, cultural centers and the like. Cohesive environments intended to physically manifest democracy, built in the twentieth century.

Decolonizing Architecture: Experimental Sites of Knowledge Production
The course explores architecture and knowledge production in relation to places, groups, experiences, and bodies. The course will be taught in English and is lead by Alessandro Petti, professor in Architecture and Social Justice, and Marie-Louise Richards, adjunct in Architecture.
