ELIA member Plymouth College of Art
, with the support of the British Council, is hosting a three-day Making Futures Conference in Cebu City, the Phillipines from 6-8 March 2020 on the topic of Rethinking Craft Communities, Taking on Global Challenges.
This edition will be built around five Thematic Sessions that underpin the Making Futures series, plus a Partnership Networking session and Workshops. They are inviting 300 words abstracts for each of these:
- Lifecycles of Material Worlds (Sustainability in Action)
- Crafting in Industry
- Craft as Social Enterprise
- Making Leaders: Crafting Leadership Cultures
- Digital-Analogue Crafting
- Building Craft Networks & Partnerships in Action
- Workshops: Materials and Processes in Transformation
Proposals on practice-led case studies, presentations based in critical-theoretical and historical analysis, and unconventional formats that might include performance, objects, AV, and other media and materials are encouraged. The working language is English but the scope is international and, given the South East Asian location, we particularly welcome accounts from non-western contexts.
The British Council will cover the round-trip flights, accommodation and meals, of all selected presenters.
Submissions must be received via this online form by 20 January 2020.
