Important news for ELIA members: EIT Proposed Strategy, Governing Board Call
Important news for ELIA members:
The European Commission's proposed 2021-2027 Strategy
for the European Institute of Technology, includes two new Knowledge and Innovation Communities, one on culture and creative industries:
“The first new KIC is set to focus on the cultural and creative industries and is planned to start in 2022. This sector has a high growth potential, many local grassroots initiatives and strong citizen appeal and is complementary to the existing eight KICs.”
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)
, an independent body of the European Union, was set up in 2008 to deliver innovation across Europe. The EIT does this by bringing together leading business, education and research organisations to form dynamic cross-border partnerships and they strongly contribute to the objectives set out in Horizon 2020.
For higher arts education institutions, this new strategy will provide a substantial opportunity to integrate their work in the cultural and creative industries within a much broader discourse around innovation in this area. ELIA is following this topic closely and will inform members further in the coming months.
Please also note that the EIT is calling for expressions of interest for up to eight new members on their Governing Board. The call is open until 7 October 2019 and ELIA members are encouraged to apply.
