Higher Arts Education Selection Process

14 March 2019

The selection process to higher arts education is the focus of the ELIA Seminar – Becoming an Artist taking place now, and also the headline of an article published in French newspaper La Monde: Sélectionner sans discriminer, le défi des grandes écoles d’art, or Select without discriminating, the challenge of the great art schools.

Based on research developed by host of the event, Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire, the following infographic illustrates the variety and some of the challenges facing institutions, including the percentage of accepted applicants, the cost for preparation courses, and more. ELIA would like to thank all members that responded to the survey and contributed to the research.

At the two-day seminar, ELIA delegates are debating and discussing the impacts of the changing selection processes at their institutions. Stay tuned for the final research results, which will be shared in a publication after the event.
