Farewell to the President of the Berlin University of the Arts
ELIA joins the Berlin University of the Arts
in bidding farewell to their President Martin Rennert.
Rennert was involved with ELIA since its foundation. He was present at the founding conference, which took place in Amsterdam in 1990, and was President of ELIA from 1994-1996.
This farewell comes 35 years after his appointment as Professor for Classical Guitar and 15 years after his first election to the presidency of UdK Berlin.
Among numerous other roles, Rennert was also the Dean of the College of Music from 1989 to 1995, instigator of the successful music festival "crescendo", a member of the academic council of the University of Zurich, on the supervisory board of ARTE, and has been Deputy Chairman of the Berlin Conference of University presidents since 2006.
Former Executive Director of ELIA, Carla Delfos, along with several key high profile speakers will present and The Symphony Orchestra of the UdK Berlin, under the direction of Prof. Steven Sloane and the Artemis Quartet will perform at the festive farewell on 22 November 2019. On this occasion, Prof. Martin Rennert will also be awarded an Honorary Senatorship of the UdK Berlin.
Under his presidency, UdK Berlin has developed into one of the foremost Academies of the Arts in the world. Rennert will officially finish at UdK Berlin in January 2020.
