European Universities: EU4ART Alliance for Common Fine Arts Curriculum Chosen
The European Commission has announced the higher education institutions from all over Europe that will be part of the first “European Universities” alliances.
Out of 54 applications received, 17 European Universities involving 114 higher education institutions from 24 Member States were selected.
This selection included EU4ART, composed of ELIA members: the Art Academy of Latvia
, Academy of Fine Arts of Rome
along with the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.
The selection of an alliance of higher arts education institutions as part of this pilot is something to be celebrated as the aim is to develop deep level of European integration, the possibility of involving joint curriculum design, development of complementary research facilities and diverse degree pathways.
It was an important priority for ELIA to advocate for art universities to take part in this prestigious pilot initiative. This has been achieved and we are keen to follow the preparations for the second round of applications this fall.
ELIA congratulates all those selected and we commiserate with all those who were not, knowing the high quality of all of these applications. We hope that reapplication in the second round will provide even more opportunities for some of the very innovative project proposals submitted by art universities and academies across Europe.
