ELIA Board Member Efva Lilja Appointed to Team Culture 2012 Task Force
ELIA Board Member Efva Lilja, Professor of Choreography and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Dance and Circus, Stockholm is one of 12 cultural notabilities appointed to find the best examples of art engendering positive developments in larger society. On 27-28 February in Copenhagen The Danish Minister for Culture launched an initiative to explore current European art and cultural practices for new opportunities amidst the ecnomic crisis.
The Danish Minister for Culture, Uffe Elbæk, has taken advantadge of the current Danish Presidency of The Council of the European Union by creating the Team Culture 2012 Task Force.
joins this prestigious cohort of art professionals from across Europe and a range of disciplines that will spend the upcoming spring identifying the best examples of art and society in symbiosis. Elbæk has charged the group with the task of creating a manifesto that addresses the question "what can art and culture do in a time of crisis?". Of chief relevance to this question is engendering innovation and resourcefulness in Europe's young artists to create new opportunities and relationships.
Team Culture 2012
will rejoin in Brussels in June to present their findings in the form of a manifesto to an invited audience of decision makers, members of the European Parliament and European minister for culture.
