Yesterday the ELIA Biennial Conference started with a spectaculair Opening Ceremony including performances that kept the audience at the edge of their seats!
The keynote of Jeanette Winterson definitely set the tone by relating literature, words, language and poetry to resilience. Afterwards, Elizabeth Giorgis & Berhanu Ashagrie spoke about urban spaces and virtual cities. They also spoke about Art Architecture and Urbanism in the Myths and Realities of Addis Ababa’s Ruin and Production of Space.
Today, the day kicked off with a very interesting keynote speech by Maria Balshaw, Director of Tate. The day continued with a Panel Session moderated by Catherine Somzé with four panellists Antoni Muntadas, Y.M.P., Elke Krasny and Roufaida Aboutaleb. The Thematic Mobile Sessions continued like yesterday at the different locations throughout Rotterdam with dynamic pecha kuchas. The day ended with a Closing Ceremony and party at BIRD.
The General Assembly will take place tomorrow and a new President and Board Representatives will be chosen!
