Art Academy of Latvia
My academic career started at the Art Academy of Latvia in the role of lecturer of Art History and Visual Semiotics in 1993. Since then I gained a doctoral degree and a professorship in these respective fields.
Since 2012 I have been teaching Master and Doctoral degree students in the subject of Art and Research. In 2006 I was elected as chairman of the Senate of the Art Academy of Latvia and in 2007 as a Vice-Rector of the Art Academy of Latvia.
In 2016 I was elected as a member of the Representative Board of ELIA and joined the ELIA Executive Group.
I also hold the position of Latvian Representative Member of Horizon 2020 Program Committee for SC6: Europe in a changing world - Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies since 2014, Member of Council of Higher Education of Latvia since 2013, Chairman of Latvian Council of Cultural (Art) Education since 2015 and Chairman of Latvian Council of Visual Arts since 2014. In 2015, I joined the Steering Committee of the Fine Art European Forum: Paradox and contributed to the Fine Art European Forum: Paradox London 2017 Conference.
I hold a Dr.art. (Latvian analogue of PhD in the Art History) in Art History and Theory. I represented the Art Academy of Latvia in the ELIA SHARE project contributing to the field of typologies of research models.
