Art studies, everywhere in the world, cause a craze that grows each year; the attractiveness of the arts school leads to a real "traffic jam" at the point of entry: increasingly selective admissions, competition between students and between schools, multiplication of pre-degree-entry preparatory classes and, paradoxically, a tendency to standardize curricula, lengthening the period of studies, etc.
How to deal with this phenomenon? What answers can we provide to students' demands, aspirations and enrolment constraints? How to conduct the essential selection, and still remain open and diversified? Based on what criteria? With which objective? How to clarify and at the same time enrich the landscape of preparatory programmes and pre-entry preparatory training to our arts schools?
From 13 to 15 March 2019, Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire and ELIA are bringing together directors, artists, designers, teachers and intellectuals, from French, European and international arts schools to actively analyse the models that have been developed in France and Europe in the last two decades, share experiences and good practices, as well as identify new strategies and new perspectives and outline coherent, demanding responses that engage the future of students, schools and more generally, the artistic creation.
Join us in Nantes and St Nazaire!
