About the ELIA-ALIA Network
The Asian League of Institutes of the Arts (ALIA) is the sister network of The European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) - founded 1990. ALIA was formed in 2012 at the ELIA-ASIA Symposium in Seoul, South Korea with the aim to promote exchange and cooperation between art colleges in the Asia Region.
ELIA and ALIA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation partnership in 2013 'to further define and enhance the working relationship between ELIA and ALIA in support of the joint resolution of both Boards and Executive Committees through information exchange, cooperation and/or collaboration'.
In the promotion and development of Higher Education in the Arts globally, ALIA and ELIA have agreed for
- Regular exchange of information
- Member's participation in each other's activities
- Cooperation in joint events and engagement in joint projects

About
The ELIA-ASIA Symposium: 'Creating a Global Network' was held from the 4-6 October 2012 in Seoul, South Korea at K-Arts- Korea National University of Arts and resulted in the establishment of the Asian League of Institutes of the Arts (ALIA) network.
Creating a Global Network
With over 60 delegates from 26 countries, from 15 Asian countries plus Australia, Europe, the USA and Canada, the ELIA-ASIA Symposium in Seoul, South Korea on 4-6 October 2012 has been a great success, giving life to the Asian League of Institutes of the Arts (ALIA).
ELIA is very grateful to all those who have been involved in the event and for their input into this strategically important initiative for global higher arts education.
The establishment of the ELIA –ASIA network ALIA is an important step forward in creating a more powerful worldwide lobby and voice for arts education and will also allow educators and teachers to share common interests and ambitions. The connection ELIA –ALIA will allow members from both organizations to speak with a united voice on issues that have an impact on mutual interests and will help developing knowledge and expertise.
This meeting would not have been possible without the support, dedication and hard work of the K-Arts University.
