Kieran Corcoran new ELIA President
New Representative Board & Executive Group

At the General Assembly, 30 October in Nantes, France, the new ELIA Representative Board has been elected. In their first board meeting, the new Board has elected Kieran Corcoran as President and Steven Kapelke as Treasurer.
Kieran Corcoran succeeds Chris Wainwright, who has held the position for two terms from 2006-2010. Chris Wainwright will remain a member of the board as Past President.
The new Executive Group has been selected from the Board in November. Members are Kieran Corcoran, Klaus Jung, Ulf Dalnäs, Thera Jonker, Paula Crabtree, Snejina Tankovska, and Steven Kapelke.

Call for proposals for short audiovisual productions
European student competition

Deadline: 25 March 2011

ELIA - European League of Institutes of the Arts - in cooperation with CILECT- International Association of Film and Television Schools - is issuing a Call for Proposals for the production of new short audiovisual productions (minimum 60 maximum 90 seconds) promoting multilingualism in Europe.
The competition is organised on behalf of the European Commission and in partnership with PRIX EUROPA.

Applications will be accepted from students in their third, fourth or fifth year of study at ELIA and CILECT member institutions in the 27 European Union Member States and in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Turkey.

Successful applicants will receive a production grant of 5000 €, will be invited to a 2 day workshop in Amsterdam and to the PRIX EUROPA Festival in Berlin where the finalised audiovisual productions will be presented. A DVD will be produced and distributed to television stations and festivals.

We are looking for proposals that are innovative, surprising, motivating, fascinating, unexpected and most of all creative.
Audiovisual productions with a clear message, self-explanatory, easily understandable to a broad public with different backgrounds and mother tongues.

Papers from the 11th ELIA Biennial

The 11th ELIA Biennial Conference took place in Nantes from 27-30 October. 408 Participants from 31 countries took part. We are now in the process of gathering and publishing online the papers from symposia and discipline sessions. Part of the proceedings will also be included in the Art Futures publication, forthcoming early 2011.

ELIA is pleased to announce the third edition of the NEW NOW festival presenting the most exciting and creative artistic talent emerging across Europe and beyond.

The NEW NOW LIVE Festival 2011 will be hosted by Tallinn, Estonia.
