Call for Venues
ELIA Biennial Conference & General Assembly 2016
Deadline: 15 May 2013

The ELIA Biennial Conference is usually organised in autumn and attracts roughly 500 delegates, representing more than 40 countries, giving the host institute(s) a unique opportunity to present themselves to Higher Art Education Institutions and Universities from all over the world. The host institute’s students and teachers are encouraged to be involved in the development of the conference. About Hosting
Before starting the co-operation an agreement will be signed between ELIA and the Host. The budget will be jointly agreed and is generally estimated on € 350.000 from which the Host guarantees to raise a minimum amount of €220.000 nationally and locally (a part of this amount can be ‘in kind’). ELIA guarantees to raise a minimum amount of €130.000 in participation fees and European grants.

Organising the event is a joint venture, but a general division of the tasks is anticipated as follows:

Host
Arranges venues for conference
Secures national and local funding and sponsorship
Is an active partner in the steering committee and in developing the programme
Appoints a local coordinator
Organises the cultural programme
Local/National promotion sand PR
Organises the logistics such as catering, hotel bookings etc

ELIA
Responsible for all communications, reporting and publications
Prepares work/time schedules and budget
Organises the programme as decided upon by the steering committee (speakers, sessions, etc)
Secures participation fees and EU funding
Recruits and registers participants

How to Apply
To nominate your city, please write an application in which you outline why you wish to be the host of the 14th ELIA Biennial Conference. Please explain the venue possibilities, the financial support and possible partnerships you foresee.

The ELIA Executive Group will select a maximum of 3 venues that will be further investigated through a visit of Kieran Corcoran, ELIA President and Carla Delfos, ELIA Executive Director.

Deadline for proposals is 15 May 2013.
