Now Open: Call for Contributions ELIA Biennial 2020

Deadline: 6 January 2020

New ideas, new concepts, the NEW itself most commonly arises at the
edges or at the interfaces between traditional disciplines. It is often this space in between — virtual or physical — where we as academics, artists or creatives can invent, innovate, compose and create.

The ELIA Biennial Conference 2020, hosted by Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), will be dedicated to exploring these limits, testing the boundaries between worlds, disciplines and concepts; while at the same time, shaping and reflecting on our practices and expanding the arts.

Colleagues from ELIA member institutions are invited to contribute to the programme with their most innovative projects, integrated ideas, and transdisciplinary practices.

Open Call and Registration Now Open for PIE Annual Meeting 2020

Following the success of the first PIE (Platform Internationalisation ELIA) annual meeting earlier this year, ELIA is thrilled to announce the opening of registration and call for papers for the PIE Annual Meeting 2020, which is hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia from 6-7 April 2020.

The event will delve even further into questions surrounding the meaning of internationalisation for higher arts education institutions through roundtable discussions, presentations and working sessions. To shape the content of this meeting, ELIA is seeking proposals on best practices, examples of innovation, research approaches and on-going projects.

Deadline for submissions: 10 February 2020

ELIA Leadership Symposium: Final Chance to Register

Are you a leader of an institution? Do you have international focus? Then Hangzhou is the place to be this November.

The event takes place from 20-22 November in Hangzhou, China and focuses on the theme of collaborations across cultures. Delegates will have the unique chance to get hands-on experience with various collaboration practices between Eastern and Western arts universities and delve into discussions around the differences, the similarities and the opportunities along with the high profile keynote speakers.

Register now as space is limited and registration closes at the end of the week, on 10 November. We look forward to seeing all delegates in China in just a few weeks!

Art in an Era of Populism

ELIA is organising a Global Seminar in collaboration with ICFAD – International Council of Fine Arts Deans, kindly hosted by ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering.

This international event brings together leaders of higher arts education institutions from North America and Europe to exchange both strategic and practical ideas. In this frame, we address the challenging role of the Arts in an Era of Populism, what are its implications and which alternative strategies can we imagine.

The Global Seminar will take place on 8 and 9 June 2020 in Barcelona, and is open to members of ELIA and ICFAD. Register now!

ERASMUS+ 2020 Call

Today the European Commission published its 2020 call for proposals and guide for the Erasmus+ programme, which has an increased budget of 12% compared to 2019. Over €3 billion have been allocated to this programme, providing mobility and training opportunities for students, researchers and academics staff in EU countries.

As part of the 2020 call for proposals, the Commission will launch a second pilot on European Universities. On Thursday this week, ELIA will join the debate on this new funding scheme focusing on Building the universities of the future.

All deadlines for funding submissions are included in the Erasmus+ guide. Along with the Mobility funding in Key Action 1 and the already mentioned European Universities call, the Strategic partnerships and Capacity building in the field of higher education can be of particular interest for ELIA member institutions.

Stay tuned for more updates on funding and advocacy.
