We are thrilled to announce that the Registration is Now Open for the 8th ELIA Academy with this year's theme What’s going on Here? Exploring Elasticity in Teaching and Learning in the Arts.

The ELIA Academy brings together lecturers from Higher Arts Education Institutions who want to share ideas and practices with like-minded colleagues from across Europe and beyond.

The event will take place 5-7 July 2017 and is organised in partnership with Central Saint Martins and the Teaching and Learning Exchange at the University of the Arts London

A wide variety of engaging presentations by keynote speakers, lecturers, artists and designers will spark in-depth discussions and exchange of ideas. Expect workshops, panel discussions, paper presentations, performance lectures, visits in the city and much more, as well as professional networking.

Call for Venues - 9th ELIA Academy 2019
Deadline 15 May 2017 

ELIA would like to call upon its members to nominate a venue for the 9th ELIA Academy 2019. 

The aim the ELIA Academy to stimulate and engage teaching artists, lecturers and researchers in discussion with their peers in Higher Arts Education institutions internationally through participation and engagement in a varied programme (presentations, creative workshops, debates, performance lectures, city visits and cultural tours, professional networking events). 

The Host will be co-organiser and share all the responsibilities of planning the event (from content to logistics and finances) with ELIA.

NXT Making a Living from the Arts Conference
SAVE THE DATE! 14-15 September 2017 in Amsterdam 

Are you interested in discussing entrepreneurship in the arts and how higher art education institutions are approaching it? Would you like to hear about how entrepreneurial initiatives are developing new models of education outside the art academies? Do you want to be involved in a dynamic debate on social impact, social innovation and sustainable practices? 

If the answer is YES, this is the event for you!

The NXT Conference is hosted by the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) and online registration will open in spring. 

If you think you have an innovative practice to share, as for example, a model/method of teaching entrepreneurship in the arts, please send a brief description of your activities (about 200 words) to barbara.revelli[at]elia-artschools.org. 


New All Time Record High Numbers for NEU NOW 2017 Nominations!

We are very excited to announce that the NEU NOW 2017 Call for Artist Nominations topped last year’s record breaking number of 372 nominations with a new record of 411 nominations from institutions in 38 countries from Europe, Asia, Australia, North America and South America.

This year’s call for nominations saw a significant increase in the number of nominators: jumping from 165 nominators in 2016 to 376 nominators in 2017, more than doubling the number. 

Finally, this year also saw the highest number of nominations from all past editions of NEU NOW in the categories Design/Architecture, Film/Animation and Music/Sound, with the number of nominations in Music/Sound being doubled from the previous record set in 2012.

NEU NOW 2017 Festival will take place in Amsterdam on 14-17 September 2017.

EQ-Arts still has a few spaces left for its reviewers training at AMU in Prague from 9-11 April.

The  training workshop is designed so as to replicate the required preparation, teamwork, intensity of workload and complexity of task associated with international quality assurance processes. In the 2 day-workshop participants will be actively engaged in a simulation exercise that mirrors how you would be expected to perform in an external international QA visit.

Will you join the group and work with your colleagues from ELIA Members institutions in The Netherlands, Estonia, Czech Republic, United Kingdom and Portugal, covering Film/Media, Fine Arts and Performing Arts?

Carla Delfos Receives ELIA Honorary Companion Title at ELIA Biennial in Florence

Carla Delfos, Founder and Executive Director of ELIA, received a very special honour at the General Members' Assembly Meeting, during the ELIA Biennial Conference last December.

Carla announced that she was going to retire in October 2017, leaving behind a strong network and organization that she built and nurtured for the past 26 years. Thomas D. Meier, ELIA President, expressed his gratitude in the name of the whole ELIA family and awarded her the title of ELIA Honorary Companion. 


We would like to call upon our contacts, colleagues and ELIA members to spare a few minutes of your time  to fill in our ELIA Survey.
