Join ELIA's mapping project on Cultural Entrepreneurship SURVEY NOW OPEN!


Is your institution offering cultural entrepreneurship programs for art students? Are you a creative hub or a creative start-up centre? Do you have 2 minutes to contribute to our research?

We would like you to be part of our mapping research that will form the basis of a new platform that will map creative hubs, labs and creative startup centres in Europe. The research is part of NE©XT Accelerator, a three-year project that is funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission.

What will you get in return?
Your institution or creative hub will be featured on our platform, creating awareness and visibility.  And we might also choose your hub or institution as a case-study and invite you to the Biennial Conference in Florence in 2016. ELIA can support your activities by offering future training, training materials and a support network.


5 artists selected for NE©XT Accelerator residency


ELIA is proud to announce that 5 talented emerging artists will participate in the NE©XT Accelerator Residency programme in cooperation with Europe By People, between April 1 - June 30, 2016.

Here are the 5 selected artists (in alphabetical order):
Rémi Duprat  - Ecole Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Brest
Dora ­Durkesac - Academy of Fine Art, University of Zagreb
Zofia Kuligowska - Performance Art in University of Arts in Poznan
Ben Smart - University of the Creative Arts Farnham
Viktor Vejvoda - Academy Fine Arts, Prague

ELIA would like to congratulate the selected artists and is looking forward to follow their development and work here in Amsterdam!


Call for NEU NOW 2016 PR & Online Marketing Intern
Deadline 7 April, 2016


The 2016 edition of the NEU NOW Festival is looking for an intern to help out before and during the festival that will take place between 14-18 September at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. 

Position: PR & Online Marketing Intern for NEU NOW Festival Amsterdam at the Westergasfabriek
Hours: 16-24 hours per week with increased hours around and on the dates of the festival (14-18 September)
Period: May-September 2016

Candidates must be based in Amsterdam.

AEC, Cumulus and CILECT meet at the ELIA office

On a sunny afternoon, the heads of AEC, Cumulus, CILECT and our very own Carla Delfos met in our ELIA office in the heart Amsterdam. We want to thank Eija Salmi, Stanislav Semerdjiev and Stefan Gies, for visiting us. Here’s to many more years of cooperation!

Value of Cultural Networks


We cultural networks, are proud to promote and facilitate all forms of international collaboration, and improve the access to arts and culture'. 

A group of international cultural networks, ELIA included, come together on a regular basis in Malta to share experiences and knowhow, to increase cooperation and to discuss how they can better support the cultural sector. An outcome of the last meeting in February is the following joint statement 'The Value of International Cultural Networks'.

Cultural Initiatives for Refugees

In the light of the current wave of migrants fleeing war, terror and insecurity, ELIA would like to share best practice examples of member institutions activities to help. 

ELIA would like to thank all the institutions who sent in their examples of best practices, interesting initiatives and articles as a response to the ELIA board's call to action earlier this year. 

In the past weeks we have published a few of these projects that have reached the ELIA office. Each project is highlighted on our website and our social media to raise awareness and encourage other members to also take action! We will keep on posting many more stories.

Karoliina Paappa’s work entitled ‘Die-Cut – Configurational Compositions For Camera’ was showcased at the 2011 NEU NOW festival in Tallinn. Now, Karoliina is an accomplished artist. Her most recent project is called ‘Carcass’ and it comprises surreal sculptural fashion made out of fur and leather from roadkill. Take a look at her website at www.karoliinapaappa.fi.
