5 artists have been selected for the NE©XT Accelerator Residency

160 applications were sent in for the NE©XT Accelerator Residency from all around Europe.

ELIA is proud to announce that 5 talented emerging artists will participate in the NE©XT Accelerator Residency programme in Amsterdam between April 1 - June 30, 2016. A multidisciplinary expert panel carefully reviewed each application and selected 5 individuals who had outstanding portfolios and showed great potential for growth.

The NE©XT Accelerator project supports emerging artists to initiate successful international careers, improving their capacity to make a living from their artistic production.

The selected artists will have the international multidisciplinary platform, Europe by People, at their disposal to work with professionals, educational institutions and students. They will receive mentoring from an international group of experts in all artistic disciplines, who will support the artists in their creative and career development. The project is organized in the context of the Netherlands Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

ELIA would like to congratulate the selected artists and is looking forward to follow their development and work here in Amsterdam.

ELIA Board's Call to Action to All Members: Support Refugee Artists, Students, Teachers & Researchers

The Board of ELIA is calling upon ELIA members to take action and offer support to exiled artists, students, teachers and researchers visible.

The current and pressing situation in Europe calls us to action. In the light of the current wave of refugees fleeing war, terror and insecurity, ELIA would like to make a (modest) contribution towards the capacity of Europe to act in solidarity and promote a culturally inclusive vision on our joint future.

We will be happy to support you, and engage in a project proposal or a possible funding bid. Oussama Rifahi, Executive Director of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) and keynote speaker at ELIA’s Leadership Symposium in Cape Town, December 2015 ‘Dominance//Diversity//Disruption’ offered ELIA to have AFAC and a number of peer institutions in the Arab region act as intermediaries for those institutions and individuals that wish to help.

Please do get in touch with us if you wish to liaise with Mr. Rifahi, or if you have examples of good practice that we can publish on the website or ideas for projects. Send us the following information about examples of good practice you have encountered:
·         Name school, city, country
·         Email address contact person
·         Max 500 words description‎ activity
·         jpg picture(possibility)
