Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts opens its doors to the 7th ELIA Teachers’ Academy 2015 - ENACT: Learning in/through the Arts held in Tilburg, The Netherlands from
 10 - 12 May 2015.

The 3 day programme offers keynote speeches, presentations, workshops and panel discussions. The in-depth exchange of ideas at the ELIA Teachers’ Academy in Tilburg will provide a critical framework for informed discussions as well as professional networking

During this event, delegates will have the opportunity to meet lecturers from all over the world, presenting innovative working methods and practices.

Economies of Aesthetics
From Possible to Desirable

ELIA is delighted to announce that the conference ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS, will take place 18-20 June 2015 in Basel, Switzerland in collaboration with the FHNW Academy of Art and Design and in conjunction witART BASEL.

Register now 
to join us for informed discussions between experts coming from higher arts education, economy, social sciences and contemporary aesthetic practices. Besides high profile speakers and presenters, a visit to Art Basel is part of the programme.

ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS 
The conference will provoke new ways of thinking and observing the actual cultural, societal, political and economical processes, and provides a space for thinking in potentialities through a multidisciplinary view: the possible focuses on catalyzing urban change, the profitable conducts an analysis of a reloaded economic value system, the sensible explores an antifragile society, the desirable discusses architectures of meaning.

Additional to the sessions addressing these overall themes, the present discourse will be reflected through presentations from the expert fields of research, impact, cultural entrepreneurship and sources & resources.

Furthermore, ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS takes place in conjunction with Art Basel. This premier international art show will host the conference debate ‘From Possible to Desirable. In Search of a Common Layer of Meaning.’ After the debate, Art Basel welcomes delegates to visit the exhibition, with modern and contemporary works of leading galleries around the world.

ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS addresses everyone interested and open for exchange and reversing discussions – from arts, design and university lecturers, to urban developers, sociologists, economists, or protagonists of cultural institutions.

7th ELIA Leadership Symposium 
1-4 December 2015

ELIA is delighted to announce that the 7th ELIA Leadership Symposium hosted by The African Arts Institute will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from 1-4 December 2015.

The ELIA Leadership Symposium brings together influential leaders from higher arts education institutions and universities across the globe for an important and timely discussion on current issues in leadership in higher arts education.

THEME
Post-apartheid South Africa is a laboratory of social transformation. Working within this context we will address this changing world and reflect on how key notions of 'the canon', aesthetics and standards of excellence play out in a culturally diverse world.

PROGRAMME
The ELIA Leadership Symposium: Dominance. Diversity. Disruption. starts Tuesday 1 December with a welcome cocktail for delegates to meet representatives of African Art Universities. From Wednesday 2 – Friday 4 December the programme offers round table discussions, based on input from high profile speakers, including the renowned academic and writer Njabulo Ndebele and the Executive Director of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture Oussama Rifahi. Furthermore, different options to visit and engage with cultural institutions in Cape Town, performances, dinners and receptions in various historic venues will be organised.
