ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS
The conference will provoke new ways of thinking and observing the actual cultural, societal, political and economical processes, and provides a space for thinking in potentialities through a multidisciplinary view: the possible focuses on catalyzing urban change, the profitable conducts an analysis of a reloaded economic value system, the sensible explores an antifragile society, the desirable discusses architectures of meaning.
Furthermore, ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS takes place in conjunction with Art Basel. This premier international art show will host the conference debate ‘From Possible to Desirable. In Search of a Common Layer of Meaning.’ After the debate, Art Basel welcomes delegates to visit the exhibition, with modern and contemporary works of leading galleries around the world.
Please find here more detailed information about the content of the discussions and sessions in the programme.
SPEAKERS include amongst others ‘a.titolo’, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev , Hassan Bakshi, Catherine David, Desmond Hui, Leo van Loon, Tina Saaby Madsen, Pier Luigi Sacco and Dal Yong Jin.
ECONOMIES OF AESTHETICS addresses everyone interested and open for exchange and reversing discussions – from arts, design and university lecturers, to urban developers, sociologists, economists, or protagonists of cultural institutions.

Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts opens its doors to the 7th ELIA Teachers’ Academy 2015 -ENACT: Learning in/through the Arts held 10 - 12 May 2015 in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
This way of learning in/through the arts requires a distinct set of competences and habits of mind. On the other hand we see how artists and designers introduce educational practices to their artistic work, be it in the studio, the museum, the public space or on stage.
During this event, delegates will have the opportunity to meet lecturers from all over the world, presenting innovative working methods and practices.
ENACT: LEARNING IN/THROUGH THE ARTS
Making and teaching the arts are practices that intervene in a specific way, both in education and in society at large. The arts practice has its own knowledge base and logic; it evolves by creating and doing . The same can be said about education where learning environments are created by teachers and students in the work and on the spot. On the one hand we see how art educators bring artistic strategies into schools and higher arts institutions.
