With the quality audit, Austria introduced a quality assurance procedure, which is primarily targeted towards supporting schools in their institutional development.
AQ Austria supports this approach and believes that the main responsibility for the quality of the learning experience and the quality assurance systems lies with the institutions themselves. External quality assurance is there to support the universities in their development.
EQ-arts is a initiative of ELIA and means ‘Enhancing Quality in the Arts’. The organisation has a long standing experience with Peer Reviews throughout Europe. Its methodology, based on the European Standards and Guidelines, is recognised by ENQA
and targeted towards the specificities of higher arts education. All reviewers and experts involved are from the field of art.
As both organisations repreent similar approaches to quality assurance and enhancement they decided to offer a joint audit procedure for the review of internal quality management systems. This combines the long experience of AQ Austria in the audit procedures with the specific expertise of EQ-arts with regards to quality processes in higher arts education. The joint process distincts itself form others by jointly appointing and preparing the reviewers, as well as addressing specific enhancement themes, which are of special relevance for the internal quality management of art insitutions.
