Stories for Academia

While „thinking through writing“ as a parallel to visual discourse in art and design practice seems to be accepted as an important learning tool by art and design institutions in the United Kingdom (see e.g. www.writing-pad.ac.uk), in Switzerland as well as in other european countries it still is a new and sceptically received perspective. Based on selected examples from recent teaching practice in swiss german BA and MA design programmes, „Stories for Academia“ demonstrates how a typical designers’ skill like storytelling can be transfered to writing contexts and how design students can be encouraged confronting academic writing tasks.
