Stories and Audiences: Whose Story is it Anyway?
The presentation focuses on some key aspects of storytelling and explores their relevance to the teaching and learning process.
The presentation looks at ways in which storytelling and re-telling/re-writing are related to problems of representation and re-appropriation, cultural identity and intercultural interactions, expectation horizon and audience adaptation, performance and reception. It explores some uses of narrative production and reflection in the literary studies teaching and learning process. Pedagogical implications pertinent to the subject matter of the presentation are discussed and analysed, such as skill inquisition, self-expression, learner-centered strategies. Some examples are provided as practical illustrations of these issues; and areas for further research and explorations are outlined.
