NXT Conference: Artist Workshops on Making a Living from the Arts

20 September 2017

In the context of the NXT Conference, NEU NOW 2017 artists were invited to attend a series of workshops on various topics related to cultural entrepreneurship.

Mark Schotman from Willem de Kooning Business Station, gave a workshop on Finding Potential Value by Expanding your Scope. The artists had to chart out their wants, needs, feelings and thoughts and then reflect on them in a group.

Georg Russegger from The Center for Knowledge Transfer (East) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna talked about Artistic Career Strategy Development. For example, how does an artist ensure that they have cash flow to develop future projects?

Hans-Gerd Nottenbohm from Union Gewerbehof GmbH, Inwest Hub in Dortmund gave a workshop on basic financial tools for cultural projects and enterprises

Bojana Panevska from DutchCulture and TranArtists talked about artist residencies and working (inter)nationally. Artists are confronted with many opportunities for residencies all around the world. The challenge lies in finding the most fitting residency for reasons that are well-thought out.

The NXT Project is dedicated to support the career development of emerging artists and facilitate their international mobility.
