

ELIA will organise its 12th Biennial Conference in 2012 and is calling upon its members to nominate a venue.
ELIA is currently preparing the 11th Biennial Conference that will take place in Nantes in October 2010. Since its founding in 1990 ELIA has organised 10 Biennial Conferences in the following locations:

Before starting the co-operation an agreement will be signed between ELIA and the Host. The budget is generally estimated on € 470.000 from which the Host guarantees a minimum amount of € 150.000 (a part of this amount can be ‘in kind’) with the understanding that additional funding of approximately € 170.000 is required and should be raised nationally and locally. ELIA guarantees to raise a minimum amount of € 150.000 in participation fees and grants.
Organising the event is a joint venture, but a general division of the tasks is anticipated as follows:
Host
- Arranges venues for conference
- Secures national and local funding and sponsorship
- Is an active partner in the steering committee and in preparing the programme
- Appoints a local coordinator
- Organises the cultural programme
- Organises the logistics such as catering, hotel bookings etc.
- Responsible for all communications, reporting and publications
- Prepares work/time schedules and budget
- Organises the programme as decided upon by the steering committee (speakers, sessions, etc)
- Secures participation fees and EU funding
- Recruits and registers participants
