Andreaspenning distinction for Carla Delfos

20 September 2017

Carla Delfos received Amsterdam’s Andreaspenning distinction for her work promoting culture in the city.

When Amsterdam Deputy Mayor, Kajsa Ollongren, took to the stage at the ELIA Handover ceremony, it was truly a surprise act for everyone present.

The night revolved around Carla Delfos’ farewell and the handover of her responsibilities to the new Executive Director, Maria Hansen.

Kajsa Ollongren handed Carla the Andreaspenning distinction in honour of her lifetime dedication to arts and culture in the city of Amsterdam, and as we all know, in Europe and beyond.

The Andreaspenning is a distinction of the municipality of Amsterdam and it is reserved for individuals who have contributed to the improvement and the fabric of the city of Amsterdam in all fields, such as culture, arts, sports, science, journalism, etc. The name of it refers to the well-known symbol of the city,  the three X’s or Saint Andrew’s crosses.

Carla accepted the award with a beaming smile as the audience gave a standing ovation in her honour.
