I started my working path in the field of art pedagogy at the Art Academy of Latvia in 1993 as a lecturer in the fields of Art History and Visual Semiotics. Since then I gained doctoral degree and professeorship in the respective fields. From 2012 I also started to train Master and Doctoral degree students in the subject of the Art and Research.

In 2006 I was elected as chairman of the Senate of the Art Academy of Latvia and in 2007 I was elected as a Vice-Rector of the Art Academy of Latvia.

In 2015 I joined Steering Comitee of the Fine Art European Forum:Paradox.

I am also Latvian Representative Member of Horizon 2020 Program Committee for SC6: Europe in a changing world - Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies since 2014 and Member of Council of Higher Education of Latvia since 2013. I am holding positions of the Chairman of Latvian Council of Cultural (Art) Education since 2015 and the Chairman of Latvian Council of Visual Arts since 2014 and also positions of the member of Latvian Design Council and Latvian Creative Industries Council, both since 2014.

I hold (Latvian analogue of PhD in the Art History) in Art History and Theory. I represented the Art Academy of Latvia in the ELIA SHARE project providing contribution in the field of typologies of research models.
