The main part of the conference will take place in Le Lieu unique or at venues within walking distance from there. Le Lieu unique occupies one of the last architectural vestiges of the LU factory. This building, used throughout the 20th century to make biscuits and earmarked for demolition in 1974, today houses an unusual art centre, where life rubs shoulders with art in its most contemporary forms. The Nantes City Council commissioned architect Patrick Bouchain to refurbish the site. Since its inauguration on 1 January 2000, the former biscuit factory has become a centre for artistic exploration and a hub of cultural ferment and conviviality, where art forms, cultures and people mingle.
