artesnet is the successor to the thematic network inter}artes . The network explores key issues important for higher arts education at this stage of the Bologna process and looks ahead after 2010 at which issues remain or become priorities in the coming years in a rapidly changing European context of new employment opportunities for artists in the 'Economy of Culture', knowledge-based society and national / European qualifications frameworks. The network’s focus is very much on how we see the role of higher arts education further develop in European societies and the futures of our students and teachers. At the same time we shape that future in a truly European working environment through collaborative work.

artesnet Europe sees itself as a Europe-wide 'community of practice', connecting practitioners from the creative/cultural sector, teaching staff from art schools, educators, and artistic researchers from almost all EU-countries, Iceland, Norway, and Turkey. It develops new approaches in learning, teaching and research in the arts and pilots and collects best practice of artistic and creative partnerships between art schools, creative industries, non-formal education and local communities. It also supports online infrastructures/services and sub-networks.

A major European arts teachers’ academy has taken place on 1-4 July 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Special activities have also been organised in Turkey.

artesnet Europe has organised its work in three strands:
  1. Creative Partnerships
Leading partner institution: Utrecht School of the Arts, Netherlands

  2. Qualifications Frameworks
