NEU NOW is Amsterdam’s international art festival devoted to presenting the work of exceptional emerging talents advancing from art academies across Europe and beyond.
NEU NOW brings together a generation of rising artists from across Europe and beyond in a curated selection to share their works, practices and cultural perspectives in ways that encourage future collaborations.
Over the past seven years, NEU NOW has established an innovative international festival that features a curated selection of emerging artists entering international art arenas. For the eighth edition, NEU NOW returns to the spaces of the Westergasfabriek to present a programme in which exhibitions, performances, workshops, films and artist talks converge to provide new perspectives and future opportunities.
In addition to the main event in September, NEU NOW supports emerging artists throughout the year. NEU NOW operates as a platform promoting artistic excellence in theatre, dance, visual arts, music and film, creating an (inter)national springboard for artists of the future. Cutting edge presentations and activities feature artwork that questions, comments on and challenges recent developments in the world. Additionally, selected artists are invited to show their work and participate in residencies with partners of NEU NOW including FOAM Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, FHNW at Art Basel, Prix Europa Berlin, and more.
Previous editions of NEU NOW were held in Vilnius, Tallinn, Nantes, Porto, Amsterdam and Glasgow. In 2015 the festival returned to Amsterdam, where it found a permanent home.
NEU NOW is an initiative of ELIA – European League of Institutes of the Arts.
NEU NOW 2016 was a five-day celebration of arts in Amsterdam that welcomed 60 artists from 18 countries at Amsterdam's Westergasfabriek from 14 - 18 September.

How many artists can I nominate?
There is no official limit to the number of artists that can be nominated by any one nominator or institution. Nominators are free to nominate as many artists as they like in as many categories as they like. However, in the interest of geographic and cultural diversity, it is only in exceptional cases that more than one artist (or ensemble) from any one institution will be selected for the live festival in Amsterdam within a given discipline. Although not common, it is possible that multiple artists from one institution may be selected for the live festival if they’re nominated in different artistic disciplines.
