ELIA's Leadership Symposium 2005 was held at Chelsea College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London, on the 22-25 November brought together up to 70 strategic decision-makers and leaders from a representative set of diverse arts and design institutions throughout the world.
The Cultural Programme lasting two days aimed to expose participants to off the beaten track areas of interest. The Symposium coincided with the Turner Prize exhibition at the Tate Britain as well as other prestigious events around the city.

Berlin, Germany, 13-15 October
The Universität der Künste Berlin hosted the re:search - in and through the arts project conference in Berlin, during which the outcomes of the project were presented and discussed.
The conference illuminated the role of research in Higher Arts Education from both artistic and educational angles.
This ELIA/UdK re:search project aimed to achieve a better understanding of cultural differences in research and in degree structures in the arts, to build an international dimension in artistic research and research supervision and to connect researchers, ideas and teaching staff. The project develops an artistic as well as an educational focus. This project was in close co-operation with the Universität der Künste Berlin (UDK).

Warsaw, Poland, 17-19 March
The launch meeting of inter}artes took place on 17-19 March 2005 in the Aleksander Zelwerowicz State Theatre Academy in Warsaw.

Rotterdam, Netherlands, 13-17 April
Following the success of the pilot version of the ELIA Teachers’ Academy, Barcelona in 2003, the Teachers’ Academy, Rotterdam 2005 was held on 13 - 17 April 2005 in Rotterdam and was hosted by the Rotterdam University of Music and Dance and the Willem de Kooning Academy of Fine Art and Design.
