Full Membership and Non-European Membership

Full Members are normally European Institutes of higher education in the arts providing advanced, degree or degree equivalent diplomas or courses of training recognised at the highest professional level. Non-European Member status is given to all institutes outside Europe that otherwise fulfil the criteria of ordinary full membership as stated in the statutes. Non-European Members have all rights equal to Full Members, except the right to vote. Non-European Members pay the membership fee according to the same criteria as Full Members.

The advantages of Full membership are:

  • receipt of the ELIA Newsletter 5 times per year (sent by e-mail or mail)
  • receipt of announcements and registration brochures of all ELIA conferences, workshops, research projects, symposia, other ELIA events and events organised under the auspices of ELIA.
  • participation for students in ELIA artistic projects and festivals, and eligibility for grants
  • discount of approximately 50% on all ELIA conferences, master classes, seminars, symposia and other events
  • all other ELIA publications and documentation and you may order additional copies at a reduced price
  • eligibility to propose projects labelled 'under the auspices of ELIA'
  • use of the ELIA Executive Office to gain information (by phone, fax or e-mail)
  • annual notification of ELIA's activities and receipt of the financial report
  • right to one vote in the General Assembly meeting
  • right to nominate candidates for the ELIA Board
  • active involvement in the preparation of political documents and activities and in the preparation of conferences, workshops, research projects, symposia

The advantages of Non-European membership are:

  • receipt the ELIA Newsletter 5 times per year (sent by fax or e-mail)
  • receipt of announcements and registration brochures of all ELIA conferences, seminars, symposia and other events organised under the auspices of ELIA
  • participation for students in ELIA artistic projects and festivals, and eligibility for grants
  • discount of approximately 50% on all ELIA conferences, seminars, symposia and other events
  • all other ELIA publications and documentation and you may order additional copies at a reduced price
  • eligibility to propose projects labelled 'under the auspices of ELIA'
  • use of the ELIA Office to gain information (by phone, fax or e-mail)

  • All rights equal to Full Members, except the right to vote.


Associate Membership

Natural as well as legal persons can be Associate Members if they are accepted as such by the League's Board and ratified by the General Assembly of the League.

The advantages of Associate membership are:

  • receipt of the ELIA Newsletter 5 times per year (sent by e-mail or mail)
  • receipt of announcements and registration brochures for all ELIA conferences, workshops, research projects, symposia and other events
  • participation for students in ELIA artistic projects and festivals, and eligibility for grants
  • discount of approximately 50% for representatives on all ELIA conferences, workshops, symposia and other events
  • all other ELIA publications
  • eligibility to propose projects labelled 'under the auspices of ELIA'
  • annual notification of ELIA's activities and receipt of the biennial report.

All membership fees are per calendar year.
ELIA's membership fees are reassessed on an annual basis.
